A 40kVA online UPS with a high-capacity 90Ah external battery cabinet providing two hours of runtime for critical air conditioning equipment — protecting a commercial facility from the thermal consequences of a power cut.
The Challenge
The client needed to protect critical air conditioning equipment from mains outages, with a target runtime of "a couple of hours" to prevent overheating and equipment damage. The solution needed to integrate cleanly with the existing electrical infrastructure, with LV works to be completed by the site's own electricians.
Our Solution
A 40kVA (40kW) online double-conversion UPS was supplied with no internal batteries, paired with a 480V 90Ah external battery cabinet — sized to deliver two hours of runtime at the air conditioning load. A 125A 400V external maintenance bypass switch with four MCB outputs was included for safe isolation during servicing, along with a network management card for monitoring. The solution was commissioned by our authorised engineer; all LV installation was carried out by the client's own team.
The Outcome
Air conditioning protected with approximately two hours of battery runtime at full load, online UPS power conditioning, and a maintenance bypass for safe servicing — all integrating with the site's existing 100A 400V supply.
