Goonhilly Earth Station — Second 30kVA Quiet UPS with Containment
Installation of a second 30kVA Riello Sentryum S3T Active with full cable containment infrastructure — enabling works that also prepared cable routes for the subsequent two 120kVA UPS installations.
The Challenge
The site required a second quiet 30kVA UPS in a noise-sensitive area, plus enabling cable containment infrastructure to support both the new 30kVA unit and the planned 120kVA UPS installations to follow. A single well-planned visit needed to lay the groundwork for the entire multi-UPS programme.
Our Solution
A Riello Sentryum S3T Active 30kVA was supplied with parallel card, NetMan 208 card and 80A 4-pole DC isolator. Full cable containment was installed — 450mm and 300mm wide cable ladder with equal tees, risers, hold-down brackets and bends — providing structured cable routes for all three UPS systems. Complete cabling (mains from LV switchboard to EMBS, EMBS to distribution board, DC tails) and full installation and commissioning were included.
The Outcome
The 30kVA unit was operational with properly engineered cable management infrastructure, and cable routes were pre-installed and ready for the 120kVA systems in the subsequent phase — reducing installation time and site disruption for the larger project.
